Jack Kelly is a poor newspaper delivery boy living in New York City. He dreams of escaping poverty and one day moving away. When newspaper mogul Joseph Pulitzer increases newspaper prices to maximize profits, Jack and his fellow newsies find themselves in serious financial trouble. With his friends Crutchie, Les, Davey, and a scrappy young reporter named Katherine, Jack leads a strike against Pulitzer and wins the heart of New York City.
